Trial Version Licence Terms
Evaluation licence for zplCore. Version: 1.0 · Date: 25 October 2026
1. Applicability
1.1These terms apply to the Trial Version of zplCore, which the Licensor provides free of charge on request. The zplCore Licence Agreement (EULA) applies in addition; these terms take precedence over it.
1.2The Trial Version is provided to businesses only (Section 2.2 of the EULA).
2. Right of Use
2.1For a period of 30 days from provision, the Licensor grants the Licensee a simple, non-transferable, free-of-charge right to use the Software solely for the purpose of assessing its suitability for the Licensee's projects (evaluation).
2.2Evaluation includes in particular: installation on development and test systems, prototypes, tests with the Licensee's own labels, templates and data, performance measurements, test prints on the Licensee's own printers, and use of the Tools (including zplCore Capture for migration samples, Section 3.9 of the EULA).
2.3The number of persons who may use the Trial Version is set out in the provision; if nothing is specified, it is up to five persons.
2.4The Licensor may extend the trial period on request. The extension must be made in text form.
2.5Test mode without a licence key. These terms apply accordingly to the test mode without a licence key (SDK, zplCore Designer and zplCore Server, Section 7.8 of the EULA), but without the 30-day limit, without a trial key and without support (Section 5 does not apply). Only development, testing and evaluation are permitted (Section 3.1 applies).
3. Restrictions
3.1The following are not permitted: (a) productive use, in particular generating or printing labels for ongoing business operations; (b) passing it on to third parties, including as part of a Customer Application; (c) SaaS operation or any other provision to third parties; (d) use after the trial period has expired.
3.2Trial key and watermark. The Trial Version is operated with a trial key that is valid for 30 days from provision and is checked offline (Section 7 of the EULA). Previews and output of the Trial Version (e.g. images, PDF and SVG files, generated print data and labels printed with it) contain a visible watermark. SVG output of the Trial Version is a rasterised image with a watermark, not vector graphics; in generated print data the watermark may appear in several places on the label. Watermarks and the trial key must not be removed, circumvented or modified; Section 7.6 of the EULA applies accordingly.
3.3Expiry. When the trial period ends, the trial key loses its validity; the Software may then refuse to operate. If the Licensor extends the trial period (Section 2.4), it provides a new trial key. When purchasing a licence, the Licensee replaces the trial key with the licence key; watermarks then no longer appear in future output.
3.4The restrictions in Section 6 of the EULA apply accordingly.
4. End of the Trial Period
4.1The right of use ends when the trial period expires. The Licensee stops using the Trial Version and deletes it unless it acquires a licence.
4.2If the Licensee acquires a licence, it may continue to use the applications, templates and configurations developed during the trial period with the licensed Software.
4.3Output created during the trial period (Section 11 of the EULA) belongs to the Licensee; however, it may not be used for productive business operations until a licence has been acquired.
5. Support
During the trial period, the Licensee receives support under the Support and Maintenance Terms with the same response time as with a licence: as a rule on the next Business Day, and no later than within three Business Days.
6. Warranty and Liability
6.1The Trial Version is provided free of charge and in its current condition. The Licensor is liable for defects only if it fraudulently concealed them.
6.2Otherwise, the Licensor is liable only for intent and gross negligence, for damage arising from injury to life, body or health, and under the German Product Liability Act.
7. Confidentiality and Data
7.1The Trial Version does not "phone home": the Trial Version, too, sends no data to the Licensor or to third parties (Section 18.2 of the EULA).
7.2The Licensor processes the contact details from the Trial Version request in accordance with its privacy policy in order to provide the Trial Version, to assist during the trial period and to follow up on the outcome of the evaluation.
